- The ANC says there will be no difference between public and private healthcare with National Health Insurance (NHI) and everyone will have access to everything.
- The DA, on the other hand, says the NHI will fail, and that the DA’s policy, which will keep the health system as is, but get the private sector to work closer with the public sector, is the answer.
- Independent candidate Zackie Achmat says if primary healthcare isn’t first fixed, nothing will work. And the EFF says the NHI will do nothing to break down the country’s two-tier health system because poor people will still have to rely on the dilapidated clinics where they live.
